Purpose:
To teach English to young learners and adult speakers of other languages as required.
Organisation structure:
To be supported by operational departments at LAL Torbay.
Responsibilities & Tasks
- Display a proposed weekly plan of work for adult and Young Learner classes. (Negotiated with the students in adult classes)
- Prepare and teach lessons to students as required by academic managers, taking responsibility for successful academic outcomes of all students taught.
- Maintain accurate and up to date class records to include a class attendance register.
- Liaise with colleagues to ensure integration and continuity in teaching where a class or individual student is shared.
- Report to academic managers on progress of students in class as required for ongoing planning and addition of students.
- Assist with placement testing as required
- Keep abreast of pedagogic innovations in EFL.
- Submit to observation by line manager or nominated member of teacher training and development team in order to monitor and maintain standards in the classroom so that standards in the classroom may be monitored and maintained.
Person Specification
Essential
- Educated to degree level or above.
- Minimum CELTA/Trinity TESOL certificated or equivalent.
- Enthusiastic and energetic approach to work.
- Interest in foreign cultures
Desirable
- DELTA
- CELTYL and/or experience in teaching young learners
- Interest in Blended Learning
Pay Scale and Other Information
- CELTA – Jun 22 – Aug 28 £11.00 per hour
- DELTA – Jun 22 – Aug 28 £12.50 per hour
NB All amounts are gross (pre-tax and NIC) and subject to statutory deductions at current rates
