LAL Torbay - Academic Recruitment Policy

Our policy

All applicants for teaching posts are required to have a first degree and a Cambridge CELTA or Trinity TESOL  qualification as a minimum.
In some cases PGCE / QTS teachers with EFL/ESOL experience may be employed for the teaching of Young Learners only.

 

Teachers should be native speakers or of native speaker competence. This will assessed during the interview procedure. Cambridge CPE level will be used as a guide.

 

All teachers are given a Job Description outlining their main responsibilities and tasks.

 

Returning teachers with a proven history at the school and teachers with a CELTYL qualification or experience with Young Learners will be actively recruited.

 

Applications from recently qualified, inexperienced teachers are welcomed. A number of positions will be offered to teachers who have recently gained a CELTA qualification at LAL Torbay.

 

A mentoring system is in place to support all teachers.

 

All teaching positions are offered subject to

1.    A satisfactory CRB Enhanced Disclosure.
2.    Signing of a Child Protection Disclaimer.
3.    Satisfactory references – all references will be checked.
4.    The production of original certificates.
5.    Attendance at induction.
6.    Teachers interviewed by Skype/telephone will have a final face to face interview at induction.
