99% pass rate for FCE

Our students who took the FCE exams in March 2011 were among many who achieve excellent results: LAL Torbay is very proud of their 99% exam pass rate.

 

One of our teachers comments: "Because of the nature of the exam, the FCE course provides a balanced programme of the four skills (Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing) plus a large input of grammar and vocabulary.  We aim to build on the grammar that has already been learned and show students how it is actually used in spoken and written English:  For example, if you think that the first condition is If+present simple+will, you will be astonished by what can be done with this classic construction.  There is a big gap between an Upper Intermediate and an Advanced student.  The FCE Course fits neatly in between, however students at Intermediate level also benefit form the course if they are prepared to work harder than they've ever worked before.  We don't aim to build fun into the FCE Course but, amazingly, everyone seems to enjoy it."

Standard General + IELTS
15 hours General English lessons + 7.5 hours dedicated to specific IELTS test preparation per week. Intermediate (B1) +. If your long-term study goal is entry to a university in the UK, South Africa, Australia or New Zealand a high score in the IELTS exam is required. We offer preparatory courses which provide practice in the important skills university-bound students require - e.g. essay writing and lecture note-taking.
Standard General + TOEFL
15 hours General English lessons + 7.5 hours dedicated to specific TOEFL test preparation per week. Intermediate (B1) +. We offer preparatory courses which provide practice in the important skills university-bound students require - e.g. essay writing and lecture note-taking.
Cambridge Exam
8 weeks, 22.5 hours each week, 12 students per class. Prepare for FCE, CAE and CPE Cambridge exams at LAL Torbay in England. Our examination team provide the students with a comprehensive preparation for Cambridge English examinations. Morning lessons focus on grammar and vocabulary, the ‘Use of English’, ‘writing’, and ‘reading’ papers. Afternoon lessons focus on the ‘speaking’ and ‘listening’ papers. Includes practice of past papers and a thorough education in exam techniques.
